The Dame Myra Hess Charity
We support classical music through innovative ideas
The Dame Myra Hess Charity is a charity dedicated to supporting and advancing music education for young people as well as establishing public events and creating performance opportunities for young people to highlight classical music and young pianists in particular. Through concerts and workshops, our aim is also to introduce classical music to young people who would perhaps otherwise not have the opportunity to encounter it.
A message from our Honorary President Nigel Hess:
“I am delighted to support the Dame Myra Hess Charity in building on Myra's legacy of providing musical opportunities for young people and bringing classical music to new ears just as her famous lunchtime concerts did in London's National Gallery during WW2. Myra's aspirations are just as relevant today - if not more so - and I wish the Charity in her name every success.”

About Dame Myra Hess
The Charity is named after legendary British pianist Dame Myra Hess who famously brought classical music to the public during times of hardship with her daily lunchtime concert series at the National Gallery during WWII.
Our mission today remains to make Classical Music genuinely accessible to all, supporting talented emerging pianists in particular while enriching the cultural life in the UK. Find out more about our mission, projects and the results of our advocacy.
